NYC ARTISTS BOOK FAIR - November 6-8, 2009
Editions Artists Book Fair at X Initiative, New York City
6 - 8 November 2009
Opening Night Preview Thursday, 5 November, 2009. 6 - 9 pm
Proceeds will benefit the P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center.
The Editions Artists Book Fair is thrilled to announce a new location for 2009. Located front and center at the X Initiative at 548 West 22nd Street, this move brings the E|AB Fair together with additional site-specific projects, exhibitions, artists, performances and weekend events. While E|AB spreads out over the second floor, Performa has scheduled evening performances on the ground floor and the X Initiative continues their own innovative exhibitions and programs on the 3rd and 4th floors. So many good reasons to join us for E|AB ‘09!
Founded in 1998 by Susan Inglett of I.C. Editions and Brooke Alexander Editions, the Fair has grown in size and stature to become the premier showcase for contemporary publishers and dealers presenting the latest, and greatest in prints, multiples and artists’ books. The Editions Artists Book Fair is well known for its vibrant energy and innovation thanks to over fifty exhibitors, presenting hundreds of artists representing New York, Tokyo, Johannesburg, Amsterdam, London, Paris and points in between.
Exclusive to E|AB ‘09, guest curators/artists Robin Kahn and Kirby Gookin of VendorBar will be coordinating a series of Occurrences (Happenings for the 21st Century) to take place throughout the run of Fair. Invited artists will design a limited edition multiple produced daily on site and vended from rolling carts dim sum style. Directly engaging the audience, artists will present actions, exchanges, and services resulting in the production and distribution of their work.
Expect projects, interventions, and headstands from Alison Knowles, Geoff Hendricks,
Larry Miller, Joe Ahearn, Cary Leibowitz, Tom Otterness, Mike Bidlo and many others.
A highlight of E|AB ‘09 will be a new edition from Yoko Ono, Add Color: Imagine Peace.
All visitors will be invited to participate by adding color, imagining peace. Copies of the edition will be available during the Fair.
During the Fair visitors will also be treated to three days of conversations on art with some of today’s most exciting artists, collectors, and publishers. The symposia series will be held in our Kartell-furnished lounge and is free and open to the public, courtesy of IPCNY.
For a complete schedule of all events, check our website for the latest listings.
E|AB is pleased to announce that the Opening Night Preview will benefit the Annual Exhibition Fund at P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center. The preview will take place Thursday, November 5th from 6-9 PM at the X Initiative. Always a great night for a great cause, this year the evening’s festivities will be highlighted by a special DJ set by Sahra Motalebi and music by AJ Slim.
