Call to Reuse Artists!
The Burbank Green Alliance and the students of the California Resource Recovery Association will be conducting a survey of Reuse Artists and Artists who use "reused materials" in their work this week. We are in the process of putting together a pilot program/website for such Artists who need materials and donors who wish to divert resources that would have otherwise been recycled or landfilled.
What is the Artist Reuse Collective is …..
The collective identifies reuse artists in Southern California and offers the community a unique opportunity to support these artists by donating resources that would have otherwise been recycled or landfilled. The Artist Reuse Collective was established in conjunction with the nonprofit Burbank Green Alliance and the students of the 2011 California Resource Recovery Association Certification Program.
This new online collective provides:
1. Website database of reuse artists that transform reclaimed material into art.
2. Online materials exchange Google Group for donors and artists to trade material
3. Tax deductible trade opportunity for donors
4. A way for reuse artists to save money and be easily identified for their efforts
5. Great way to support the Arts and save the planet
Please contact us if you would like to included in our survey and pilot program. Please reply via email to
reuseartistsurvey@yahoo.com
Thanks!

A Forum/Festival of Unexpected Intersections - October 14-16, 2011
Goddard College’s MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts Program announces
Making, Meaning, and Context: A Radical Reconsideration of Art’s Work
A Forum/Festival of Unexpected Intersections
October 14-16, 2011
at Goddard College in Plainfield VT
Call for Participation
Making, Meaning, and Context: A Radical Reconsideration of Art’s Work locates interdisciplinary art practice as a way to reexamine the function of art and artists. The emergence and growth of art in response to social and environmental urgency is shifting the work of art and artists; practitioners are challenged to find ways for art to contribute to communities and cultures in a local and global context.
We invite participation in this forum and festival of unexpected intersections: realized through inquiry-based discourse, performative interventions, and generative community dialogue that is intended to provoke and mobilize diversity of thought and practice.
We ask the following questions:
At this time in history, what does it mean to pursue an “art practice” or identify as an “artist?”
How has “art’s work” (creation, production, or manufacture) evolved aesthetically and situationally in support of or in resistance to a culture of commodification and consumption?
How have the roles of art, artist, and audience been resituated?
What is the potential for art to create civic sites for public discourse and expression?
What are the ways in which art might be complicit in upholding the narratives of modernism, capitalism, and other contested narratives?
What is the potential for interdisciplinary practice to contribute research and knowledge production that will support daily lives, diverse ecosystems, and the expansive realm of human imagination?
The conference committee welcomes the participation of practitioners and scholars across the artistic disciplines, including those whose practice is community-based, post-studio, or performative; and those who work outside of traditional systems of support and exposure. We also invite proposals from those working in other disciplines who have insight to bring to the conversation, and who can contribute diverse ways of arriving at new knowledge, which is at the core of Goddard College’s pedagogical mission.
The committee invites international submissions of proposals performances, papers, performative lectures, collaborative presentations, participatory workshops and experimental forms of engaging dialogue around forum/festival themes. Submissions may propose fully organized panels around particular questions, moderated conversations, or multimedia presentations.
Please submit proposals by March 15 at http://artswork.goddard.edu/submit-proposal/. For more information, visit http://artswork.goddard.edu/ or e-mail Lise Brody at artswork@goddard.edu.

NATIONWIDE 2011 SURVEY OF NON-PROFITS
Nonprofit Finance Fund is conducting its annual nationwide survey of nonprofits to help us all understand more about the sector's specific, real-time financial and management challenges. We hope that you will contribute to this valuable endeavor by responding to NFF's anonymous, 10-minute survey. If you have already filled out the 2011 survey, thank you! We also encourage you to forward this link to other nonprofit managers you know-the more respondents, the more robust and accurate the picture of the sector.
To take the 2011 survey, visit http://nonprofitfinancefund.org/2011survey.
NFF will analyze this information, then provide the results to all of us-government, foundations, lending institutions, media, and umbrella organizations-in aggregated form only. NFF will also send aggregated survey results to any nonprofit respondents who choose to give their contact information. The findings, and the comparison to last year's findings, will help all of us focus on the most critical areas of need in the sector, both now and for the medium- to long-term.
Again, thank you for contributing to this effort. Your participation will ensure a strong and inclusive sampling of the sector.
Warm regards,
Warm regards,
