"Congratulations on the impressive new website! Also on Turner and Italy."
Dr. Selby Whittingham - United Kingdom
"Douglass, your efforts have surely been great and rewards with your
"beautiful new site" are well deserved. It is an exciting new age for those
entranced by the great Turner's work."
Robert Setters - Canada
"The new site is so wonderful. Everything about it is so much more inviting,
right there. You've done so much work!!!!! Bravo"
Trulee Jameson - United States
"I really like Turner's new site!"
Dan Levesque - Switzerland
J.M.W. Turner has created waves of interest world-wide with a series of 8
exhibitions, starting with the National Gallery in Washington in a 2008
'block-buster' followed by Houston; New York at the Metropolitan Museum and
Moscow; also three "Turner and Italy" shows in Ferrara, Edinburgh and
Budapest plus the first ever Turner show in China in 2009 and now our own
Turner in Italy has Turner's name on everybody's lips. Truly, is not Turner
the "hottest" name among old masters these days?
Experience Turner in Italy at the new Turner Museum website:
www.turnermuseum.org. This latest exhibition features 30 Turners, first-ever
displayed in such a novel way to the public. We have increased many fold the
"thumb-size" gem-like Italian vignettes - thus we can trace every detail of
the "finest lines ever produced", to cite John Ruskin. This small but
trend-setting exhibition traces Turner's development starting with his
teenage years, through to the full flowering of his genius evident in the 26
Italian vignettes, culminating in our exhibition's show-stopper, the
celebrated St. Mark's Place, Venice - Juliet and Her Nurse, 1842, a
magnificent engraving on copper. Only the genius of Turner could transport
Romeo and Juliet from Verona to Venice and in the process transform a
tragedy into a spectacular celebration of life.
Visit the rejuvenated Turner Museum Store http://www.turnermuseum.org/store/
for this bestseller as well as many other unique and beautiful works of art.
The Turner was founded in 1973 in Denver in a historic Victorian mansion -
the phenomenal 24 year run there resulted in The Turner being listed among
the top 99 art museums in America.
