Join the Printshop for an evening of live, real-time diagnostic of artists' websites led by painter, curator, and writer Matthew Deleget. Each participating artist will have their website personally evaluated and receive user feedback. Topics addressed will cover every conceivable area related to the internet, including design, information architecture, search engine optimization, interactivity, marketing, revenue, etc.

Matthew DelegetMATTHEW DELEGET is an abstract painter, curator, and writer whose work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. From 1998-2009, Matthew worked at the New York Foundation for the Arts, where he founded and directed NYFA's Information & Research Department. This included all of NYFA's on- and offline programs for and about artists, including its comprehensive web site, classified listings, artist magazine, artist learning area, searchable databases and collaborative research projects. More than 4.5 million individuals use NYFA's information programs annually.

Matthew is a member of American Abstract Artists, the Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation's Artist Advisory Committee, and the board of The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts. He has received awards from the American Academy of Arts & Letters, Brooklyn Arts Council, and The Golden Rule Foundation, and his work has been reviewed in The New York Times, Flash Art, and Artnet Magazine, among others.

In 2003, Matthew founded MINUS SPACE, a platform for reductive art based in Brooklyn, NY, where he has also organized more than 20 solo and group exhibitions, as well as at other collaborating venues on the national and international levels.

What Makes You Fall in Love with Your City - May 28, 2010

NORFOLK, VA: Join us in a discussion of how art is part of this mysterious process. The Virginia Commission for the Arts, Norfolk Public Art Commission, Chrysler Museum and the Virginia Alliance of Local Arts Agencies are excited to present the fourth annual spring mini-conference, Artful Districts, inspired by community love of public art and meaningful spaces. This lively day of networking and presentations (and a delicious lunch) will be held at the Chrysler Museum, located at 245 West Olney Road in Norfolk on Thursday, May 27, 2010, 9:30 am to 4:30 pm with a guided tour of Norfolk public art on Friday, May 28th, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Speakers include:
Raymond L. Gindroz, co-founder, principal emeritus of Urban Design Associates;
- And one of the world’s top urban planners who has worked on the Norfolkian urban canvas for over 20 years
Kent Bloomer, designer, sculptor, and fabricator of Ornament in Architecture
- And top Yale architecture professor and author and advocate for ornamentation in architecture and public artist (or is that public ornamentor)
Naomi Natale, founder of One Million Bones and The Cradle Project, TED Fellow
- Some day you will say I heard her speak before, some day you might say you were part of ending genocide or feeding starving children. Don’t believe me? Look her up.
