The 13th Annual Flagstaff Open Studios will take place on the weekend of August 28 and 29, 2010. This self guided, free tour of over 80 Flagstaff artists’ studios has become an annual tradition bringing 1000’s of visitors to Northern Arizona each year. This year’s preview event “Prelude”, which allows viewers to preview the artist’s work they may want to visit, has changed. For the first time “Prelude” will extend two weeks after Open Studios and feature a gala closing reception as well as an opening reception at the Coconino Center for the Arts, 2300 Ft. Valley Road in Flagstaff. Brochures for the events will be available at the Flagstaff Visitors Center, local art galleries and many other locations around the area in early July.

“Prelude” opens on Saturday, August 7 with an opening reception featuring free refreshments and entertainment between the hours of 6 and 9 PM. The closing reception will take place on Friday, September 11 and will feature many surprises for the public.

NEW JERSEY COMIC EXPOSITION - June 19, 2010

NJ COMIC EXPO ADDS CARTOON PORTFOLIO REVIEW FOR ASPIRING ILLUSTRATORS June 19 Expo Keeps Adding Special Guests and Events To Day Of Pop Culture, Toys and Comics

(POMPTON LAKES, NJ - June 11, 2010) Aspiring cartoonists can have their work reviewed by working professionals thanks to Captain Action Enterprises of Ridgewood, NJ, just one of the more than 50 well known comic creators, toy and pop culture dealers and their fans that are coming to the Armory in Riverdale, NJ on Saturday, June 19.

"I'm delighted that Captain Action Enterprises is offering this to our audience," said Tom Jeron, promoter of this first NJ Comic Expo, "It's extremely generous of them as is the free appraisals that Gary Sohmers of 'The Antiques Roadshow' will be doing from 10 until 4."
Comic creators who will be attending throughout the day include Denny O’Neil, Joe Staton, Irwin Hasen, Guy Dorian, Ian Dorian, Rich Mesick, Steve Mannion, Rick Parker, Bob Wiacek, Scott Roberts, Jim Salicrup, Ivan Brandon, Andy MacDonald, and Fernando Ruiz. Toy designers and comic companies on hand include locally based McFarlane Toys and retroprauneurs Captain Action Enterprises. Also appearing is the professional wrestler/actor Brimstone, and Blinky Productions, a fan film production favorite.

The Expo also features an ongoing superhero and sci-fi fantasy costume contest hosted by Cosplay Confederates and emceed by Raven Stormbringer and culminating at 3pm with the announcement of the Suzanne Lemore Memorial Make-Up Award for Exceptional Make-Up. Judging of the runway style presentation is by professional costumers and special guest artists. PG-13 standards apply - no nudity and 'no costume' is no costume. Photo opportunities include TV's Batmobile, The Black Beauty, a working Lost in Space Robot and a local area Dark Knight style Batman with his own custom Batmobile.

The NJ Comic Expo is at the Riverdale Armory, 107 Newark Pompton Turnpike in Riverdale, NJ on June 19th, 2010. Show Hours are from 10am-6pm with an admission fee of $5, children under 3 are free.
