"Portrait Painters Improve Skills by taking Head Sculpture Class"
Head & Bust Sculpture for Painters---NEW!
Instructor: Tanya Ragir
Tuesdays, 10am to 1pm, 8 weeks course begins February 16,
$50 per class pre-paid for the 8 week course (Materials fee additional)
Do feel that your portraits are flat? Do you have trouble describing the planes of the face?
Learning a 3 dimensional approach to the anatomy of the head and bust will increase your skills leaps and bounds. Many of the master painters from centuries past were also sculptors...I believe this three dimensional knowledge made them great portrait painters and it can help you too. Tanya is an award winning artist who will guide you in the art of Head and Bust Sculpture. In this 8 week course you will learn how to build a dimensional head with water based clay and be introduced to Tanya's system of finding angles and proportions, using silhouette, and building form and volume. Tanya fuses classical tradition and her own techniques she has developed over 30 years. If you want your painting to improve...you need to understand form in 3 dimensions and this is a fantastic method to achieve success. Limited to 10 students.
Getting Comfortable with Mystery---NEW!
Writing inspired by art, Art inspired by writing
Instructor: Joshua Elias, 2 Saturdays per Month, 10am - 1pm, Starts February 12
$50 per class pre-paid for the 8 week course
This course is designed to ignite your artwork and set a fire to your writing. Each discipline is designed to spur on the furling story of you and your work, created through a brief series of specific exercises, followed by painting.
Artists tell their story through the visual image and writers tell their story with the written word. The synergistic power of combining both elements into one's work can be profound. If you feel that your work is "thin", lacking an enigma or perhaps in need of vision, then this class will be the catalyst that you have been looking for. Artists do not have to be professional writers-conversely …Writers do not need to be professional artists to participate. Limited to 12 students- call to reserve today
